“Stay” Album release party
I’m closing out Heather Park week by extending an invitation to her album release party.
“Stay” was 4 years in the making and we endured many setbacks and disappointments.
We changed direction more than once but we persevered to produce an album that we are both extremely proud of.
We would love to celebrate our achievement with you on September 28 at Crash Mansion, NYC.
The party is guest list only so you must rsvp if you wish to attend.

2nd Time Around
Things happen when they’re supposed to and the same has to be said for the song “Endless Possibilities”.
It was originally written by Heather for her debut “Dream In Pictures” album but the original version didn’t make the cut. It was re-worked with live drums and a new vocal and is proving to be a favourite from her upcoming release “Stay”. Check out this live version.
True Artistry
Heather Park week continues with a look at a song from her “Dream In Pictures” album “I Forgive You”.
I love Heather’s rhetoric at the beginning of this song. But what makes this so impactful: this is a true story. Her parents kicked her out and for a while they didn’t speak all because she chose to pursue her passion, music.
This to me is an example of true artistry, taking something negative from your life and expressing it through your chosen medium.
Trust Me She Can Sing
One of the best ways for an artist to win new fans is their live show. In this day and age it’s hard to find singers who can sing well, away from the magic of the studio gadgetry.
Heather can do just that. At her recent show at Shrine she won over many new fans with her voice and charm. Her new album “Stay” will be released in September and here is a live version of her first single “Trust You”.
Is He Ill?
With a name like K-ill you’d probably expect his music to be hardcore and violent. His name actually stands for the Kid is Ill. This Bronx native has been recording with me since ’05 and the quality of his music is always high.
His new mixtape “I’m Ill” is out now and the lead of single “Death Before Dishonour ” is featured in a new movie “Old Secrets No Lies” slated for release late this year.
Check it out, leave a comment and let me know if you think he’s ill.
Does he look like money to you?
On his first visit to my studio he stated quite clearly that he absolutely lives the life he rhymes about. Originally from Harlem he was incarcerated in Texas moved to Houston after a getting out of prison.
He found a lifestyle that suited him and suddenly one day about 6 months ago he decided to rap about it. Although he’s the brother of Murda Mook he has a style all his own and with the guidance of Dot Mob’s CEO Dolla his initial steps are pretty strong.
His first single “See The Money” is basically saying that you can tell by looking at him that he has cash. Is that what you see in this video?
Yung Vet – King Hustler
Rap culture has been infatuated with mob culture for the longest time. I’d bet Scarface is probably the most sampled or imitated movie clip in rap history. So it’s no surprise to me that Yung Vet’s King Hustler video clip has the feel of a mob movie albeit set in the hood.
I like the fact that they built a story/mini movie around the song and it was really well shot.
This is the first single from his new project Rhymes, Sweat, & Tears which is an apt title when you know how hard he’s worked to get this far.
I’m not sure how much more life the hustler/gangsta theme has but if you’re going to go that route go all out.
Rap’s Higher Ground?
Don’t ask me what it is I like about Ground Up because I won’t be able to tell you. My lawyer asked me to work with them and I liked them immediately.
They hail from Philly and are all college students, some in their camp still too young to drink.
With original beats that are as solid as are their rhymes, they aren’t groundbreaking or mind blowing in anyway but there’s just something about their music, rhymes and energy that feels right, like a well composed song.
Higher Ground is a mixtape that’s a collection of original and industry beats. Mostly recorded by them and mixed by me, you can still hear some of the rawness that comes with home recordings.
This is a group that is seriously grinding hard and I hope that they’re able to capitalise on all that hard work. Let me know what you think.
Los Don @ Stush Music
Reppin Harlem with Staten Island and Up State connections you never quite know where you’ll find Los Don. Wherever he is though, he’s never too far from a booth.
He called me up to swing by to lay something down over Cam’ron’s “Speaking in Tongues” beat while he was in the area. As usual he brought his video crew with him so what you get is a snapshot of a Los Don studio session.
Prince of Hip Hop?
100Percent% (not a typo) hails from East New York, Brooklyn and reps E Way Gang. This is the second mixtape in his Prince Of Hip Hop series.
After he released the first one we had a long conversation about his direction as an artist. he was looking for something that would set him apart from everyone else out there.
He decided the only way was to be himself, be 100% real in his rhymes, subject matter and even choice of beats. The result is “Prince of Hip Hop Vol. II” and he believes that he deserves this crown.
Take a listen and you decide if he’s right.
